Lake Katharine Boathouse
Open Monday through Friday, March 25 - 29, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. except Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
2250 Reynold Road, Winston-Salem
During Forsyth Creek Week, the boat house at Lake Katharine on the Reynolda estate will be open to the public. Created with Tudor design influences and a cupola, the boathouse was completed in 1913 and originally comprised six private changing rooms off a central hallway that opened onto a covered porch. Steps from the porch led down to the water.
Today the boathouse is used as an education center to teach school children and Wake Forest students about the plants and animals of the North Carolina Piedmont. New display boards placed around the perimeter of the lake tell about the ecology of the lake and its transition to a wetland. Since the boathouse is not usually open to the public, this is a unique opportunity to explore this historic landmark.
Open daily during Creek Week, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. except Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
